Care for our future generations and the larger narrative is part of the maturity of consciousness: we are ALL parents. A common anthropological characteristic of all advanced mammalian species who survive and thrive is the fierce behavior on the part of an adult female of the species when she senses a threat to the cubs. Our complacency about the immense suffering is a sickness. Moral outrage is not born of anger… it is born of Love.
Marianne Williamson lecture, “The Art of Aligning Body and Soul”
Mother Bear Sanctuary’s mission is to remind people of their innate connections to their bodies, the Earth, all animals, and each other and to inspire joy and service to a new paradigm of sustainable living that allows all people and animals to thrive. Read our full mission statement here.
Why are we called Mother Bear?
Our intention is to protect and honor the natural world and each other, much as a mother bear protects her cubs. How we treat the least among us registers in our psyches, nervous systems, and collective energy field.
Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.
Kahlil Gibran
When a person makes a choice to protect and honor the sacredness of life within themselves, others, and animals, they re-remember their inherent worth and intrinsic, natural interconnectedness. As we grow in our ecological and self-awareness, we will be called to be mother bears to those who cannot protect themselves.
At Mother Bear Sanctuary we believe all people have a “Mother Bear” within them waiting to be accessed to protect the sacred within and around themselves.
